Work package 4

Access to services in low-income city communities
This work package aims to investigate variations in the relationship between poverty and access to services in different types of urban low income areas. Two key objectives are identified:

  1. To map availability of services in low income urban areas and understand differences in provision and demands made by recent arrivals as compared with established residents, and how these are influenced by rural-urban linkages.
  2. To understand the interconnections between these demands and urban governance, planning and management of services, and the implications for improving poor people’s access to services.
